In one line
Grab it if you drink one-handed on a bike or in traffic and want the cap out of your face.
Look elsewhere if you want a bottle with an editor test behind it. CleverHiker tested the plastic Chute Mag Renew, which has its own search button on this page.
What to know about the CamelBak Chute Mag
Single-hand use is the point. Drink, let go of the cap, and it parks itself on the magnet. On a bike ride or a car commute that matters more than any spec.
The steel version in our scan had five bullet points and no spec table, so there is no height, base or weight to print here. We list those as missing rather than guess. CleverHiker's plastic Renew 32 oz is 6.8 oz, a useful reference for what the lighter model weighs.
The cap is described as leak resistant. That is spill proof for a desk and not a promise for a backpack. If bag safety is the priority, go with a lock-down lid.

Living with it
Steel or Renew
The insulated steel bottle keeps water cold. The Renew is clear plastic, far lighter and about $19 at CleverHiker's check. Both use the magnetic Chute cap. Take the steel one for ice at a desk and the Renew for a gym bag or a hike. If you are unsure, the Renew is the safer first purchase, since it costs less, is the version an editor actually tested, and tells you within a week whether the magnetic cap suits the way you drink.
The lid
The magnet is the good part. CleverHiker liked it and found the cap clunky to unscrew and tighten. The spout cover stays out of your way, and both seals held with no leakage in its tests.
Check the listing
Our scan of the steel listing showed a price with no decimal point, which means the scrape broke, so we do not quote it. Look up the current price on Amazon, and make sure the listing you land on is the insulated steel version rather than the plastic Renew, which shares the same magnetic Chute cap.

Common questions
Straw, chug or sip lid?
The Chute cap is a spout with a magnetic cover, closer to a chug lid than a straw. It suits quick drinks between tasks.
How this plays out across all 10Cheap fix: Spare straw lid for a Hydro Flask
Will it leak in my bag?
The listing calls the cap leak resistant. CleverHiker found the Renew's lid sealed with no leakage, yet our listing uses the weaker word, so stand it upright in a bag.
Is it dishwasher safe?
Both bottle and cap are listed as dishwasher safe, so this one avoids the hand wash split seen on other listings.
