Jonah Beckwith

Jonah Beckwith runs Lid First for people who want one bottle they will carry every day. He sorts picks by lid first, then checks them against published leak and ice results plus cleaning notes.

Bottle heights and base widths come from maker listings, so the to-scale lineup on this site matches what the listing says. Where a listing gives no number, the site says so.

Corrections

  • 10/28/2026 Second pass against CleverHiker's 06/23/2026 page and the raw listings. Fixed: the Owala FreeSip showed nine listings in our scan, fewer than the 20 we first wrote; CleverHiker links the Hydro Flask Flex Cap listing while ours is the Flex Chug; the Nalgene measurement lines come from CleverHiker; Stanley's listing says the spout comes off and the seal is replaceable.
  • 10/28/2026 Removed a line saying steel bottles can go in the freezer. Added Stanley's public statement on the lead-containing seal pellet under its bottle base, and a note that the Hydro Flask Chug listing was sold by a third-party store on 10/27.
  • 10/28/2026 Checked the CleverHiker water bottle list updated 06/23/2026. It recommends the plastic CamelBak Chute Mag Renew, not the insulated steel Chute Mag. The endorsement and the Most affordable label were removed from the steel version.
  • 10/28/2026 Four bottles do not appear in that CleverHiker list: Takeya Actives and Stanley IceFlow, plus Thermos Funtainer and Simple Modern Summit. Their badges now read Specs from the listing.
  • 10/28/2026 A Nalgene listing gave package dimensions as bottle dimensions. Height and base width for the Nalgene are left blank.
  • 10/28/2026 Prices written without a decimal point were read as cents when 1,000 or more. Three of them looked wrong and are hidden.
  • 10/25/2026 Site published in first form with search-link buttons and illustrations.
